In order to provide better outcomes for patients and their families receiving nursing services, it is necessary to create an environment in which people engaged in nursing, medical care, and welfare can work energetically and exert great power as an organization or team. “Nursing management" is necessary to enable a large number of staff members to work together in different roles and at the same time cooperate with each other. “Nursing Administration" is a discipline that, based on nursing science, applies and applies knowledge of organizational theory and management, as well as psychology and pedagogy as methodologies for making the most people, to nursing administration, and also explores unique knowledge related to nursing administration. Nurses are expected to have a high level of expertise and at the same time be able to organically collaborate with other professions. In the future, nurses will play a role not only in hospitals but also in promoting regional medical collaboration. We hope that students will learn methodologies to effectively achieve organizational objectives.
In undergraduate education, lectures on nursing management are offered in the "Career Development Theory III" and "Career Development Theory IV" courses.
Students learn the fundamentals of nursing management necessary for providing nursing services. Today, services are provided by a multidisciplinary team composed of professionals from various fields such as health, medicine, and welfare. To facilitate this team approach, nurses need to be excellent team players as well as excellent professionals. Lectures are organized by content such as team medicine, care delivery systems, hospital organization and the role of the nursing department, and medical safety management.
Students will consider the role of the nursing profession in society at a time when they are beginning to visualize their career in nursing through their studies and practical training up to the third year. Students will learn the knowledge and skills necessary for organizational management and practice shadowing the head of a nursing department. Through this, students will learn about the vision of the manager in the field of nursing management and deepen their understanding of the role and function of the nursing manager.
The preamble of the ICN (International Council of Nurses) Code of Ethics states that "Nursing care is respectful of age, color, creed, culture, disability or disease, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, politics, race, and social status, and is not restricted on these grounds. From the perspective of upholding nursing ethics, we should always keep in mind nursing care for all people living in Japan (including foreigners). We hope that students will acquire the ability to grasp nursing in a globalized society and grow up to be nurses on a large scale. International Nursing Theory 1 is a required course for second-year students, and an elective course is also available for fourth-year students.
