Our department achieves top-class number of cases and treatment results in Japan in all fields, such as brain tumors, cerebrovascular diseases, functional diseases, spinal cord diseases, pediatric neurosurgery, and head trauma. Multiple specialists make full use of cutting-edge technology and equipment to achieve safe and reliable surgery and good treatment results. The number of surgeries in 2019 reached more than 1000 cases, and when gamma knife treatment was added, about 1300 cases were treated, which is one of the leading treatment results in Japan. In addition, we are aiming for multifaceted treatment by actively utilizing minimally invasive surgery, stereotactic surgery, neuroendoscopic and endovascular treatment. Currently, there are 250 neurosurgeons from our department who are active in various related facilities nationwide. As for research, basic and clinical research are conducted in each field, and we are promoting research on regenerative medicine and surgical treatment strategies in collaboration with Faculty of Advanced Techno-Surgery (FATS), institute of Advanced Biomedical Engineering & Science. As a university hospital and educational institution, we are convinced that by making every effort in clinical practice, education, and research, it will eventually become a driving force for creating a virtuous cycle in the treatment of patients, and we are making efforts every day.
