Our department manages various diseases, from inflammation to cancer, involving abdominal organs including the gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines), liver, pancreas and biliary tract. The prevalence and mortality of cancer in this field are high, and our aim is to clarify its pathogenesis and establish early diagnosis and treatment, especially of pancreatic cancer. In addition to carcinogenesis, there are various research topics, both basic and clinical, in our department, and our basic and clinical experience and research has contributed to the current clinical practice. We support collaborative research with research groups in our university and other facilities. We are looking forward to working with young and eager researchers who are interested in Gastroenterology.
