Common Required Courses
Nursing Theory

Students will review the evolution of theoretical systems in nursing, deepen their understanding of the structure and characteristics of various theories, and learn about the basic approaches to theory building.

Nursing Research

We provide common knowledge across disciplines about research methods necessary to conduct research activities in practice in order to improve and develop specialized skills.

Nursing Ethics

Discusses some ideas for making adjustments toward solutions to ethical issues in nursing situations.

Nursing Education Theory

This course examines nursing education in terms of the characteristics of nursing education. In addition, nursing education will be considered from the perspective of lifelong education and examined as a comprehensive education.

Nursing Policy Theory

This course will provide students with an understanding of the process by which policy decisions related to nursing are made. The course also analyzes the dynamics and interrelationships among related organizations involved in the process from a managerial perspective to learn about the social functions and contributions of the nursing profession.

Consultation Theory

Students will learn about the concept and practice model of consultation, the role and function of the consultant, and the process of consultation with individuals and organizations in order to assist care providers, including nurses, in solving practical problems. Theoretical and practical analysis of the consultation process will also be included.

Nursing Management Theory

Students will learn management theories such as organizational theory and organizational behavior theory, and develop the ability to analyze managerial perspectives in nursing practice using concepts such as leadership, management, decision-making, systems theory, and theory of change.

Family Theory

To understand the reality of the diversification of the family in contemporary society. Through an empirical analysis of the changes surrounding the family, which has been described as "the decline of family functions," and the current status and problems of family caregiver-spouse caregiving, the course will examine the outlook for family functions and the nature of family support systems and intervention methods.

Sociology

Focusing on the themes of communication, human relations, groups and organizations in the fields of health and medicine, students will learn through lectures and exercises.

Anthropology

Based on the knowledge acquired so far and the experience of living as a human being, this course explores the meaning of human existence as a human being. The course also explores, from the perspective of human philosophy, the importance of people being able to respect each other, to have a sense of awe toward life, and to be aware of life as a dignified existence.

Health Statistics

In the basic nursing course, students take a series of statistical methods as basic knowledge of health statistics. The purpose of this course is to cultivate the ability to apply this knowledge to the elucidation of individual health phenomena, and to develop the ability to theorize the results of research scientifically based on data.

Clinical Psychology

Clinical psychology is broadly defined, and theories and methodologies useful in nursing practice will be lectured. First, the course explains how to create assessment questionnaires (psychological scales), and as an example of their application, discusses research on psychological and social factors that determine the quality of life of the elderly and sick, and examines the contribution of clinical psychology to nursing care. The course also aims to teach basic counseling theory and techniques and their application to nursing practice. In addition, the basic concepts of clinical psychological community support, or community psychology, will be explained using examples from intervention research on support groups for cancer patients and medical ethics research on informed consent.

Research Methods (Biological and Physiological Research, Clinical Medical Research)

Research in the medical field starts with the pursuit of therapeutic effects as well as the pursuit of causes and the careful observation of changes in the human organism. Students will learn to position these as the foundation of methodology and apply them to the methodology of nursing research.

Advanced Medicine

In recent years, engineering methods and technologies have been brought into medicine to realize a series of advanced medical treatments that were not possible in the past. This course will explain the advanced medicine that has emerged from the fusion of a wide range of technologies and medicine. In particular, the development of regenerative medicine has been remarkable, and it is expected to have effects different from those of drug therapy, and the current status and future prospects of this treatment method will be discussed while clarifying its differences from transplantation methods. The lecture will also cover recent advances in genetic diagnosis, image-monitoring surgery, and robotic surgery, and will discuss the overall trend of advanced medicine and the future of diagnosis, treatment, and surgery, which will undergo major changes in the future.

International Communication, English Exercise

This course is designed to cultivate an attitude of actively learning information about nursing overseas, and to practice English so that students will be able to transmit information about Japan and their own research to overseas countries. To overcome Japanese students' difficulties in understanding English papers and making presentations at international conferences, we aim to improve their English communication skills by training them to acquire typical English expressions and tips on presentation styles in English.

Clinical Pharmacology

Based on an understanding of pharmacotherapy from pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic perspectives, the student will acquire knowledge and skills to maximize the efficacy and safety of drug therapy and participate in the provision of the best treatment and symptom relief care as a professional nurse.

Physical Assessment

Acquire the knowledge and skills in physical assessment necessary to examine the physical and mental status of subjects with complex health problems and to make clinical judgments that include assessment of daily living.

RPathophysiology

Based on an understanding of the basic knowledge of the functions of the body to maintain homeostasis, students will learn about the causes of abnormalities, processes, major symptoms, treatments and procedures based on case examples, and will be taught the knowledge and skills necessary to interpret, judge, and practice pathophysiological changes in the subject, which will be required of professional nurses in the future.
