Library guidance

Guidance

The main library is located at the Kawada-cho campus and serves as a information center for the students and the faculty staffs. Adachi Library serves as both the Nursing School Library and the Adachi Medical Center Library, and mainly collects materials for nursing and clinical medicine. Materials in one library can be used in a different library. Databases, OPAC, electronic journals and e-books are usable via the university intranet.

ADMISSION

Tokyo Women’s Medical University Library is open to students, faculty, staff, professor emeritus, alumnae of the University, and to visitors permitted by the Director of the Library.

LOAN POLICIES

Circulation

Present your ID card with the items to check out at the circulation counter.

Returns

Borrowed items must be returned at the circulation counter. When the Library is closed, a “Return Box” is available outside the entrance of the Library.

Renewals (for books only)

Bring books by the day they are due and ask for a renewal at the circulation counter. Renewal of an item can be made only once, unless it is not reserved by another user.

Overdue penalty

Fine for books and periodicals is 20 yen, 100 yen for audio-visual materials per each overdue day. If the overdue period exceeds 30 days or more, your loan service privilege will be suspended for three months.

If a borrowed item is lost

The borrower must compensate a lost item. Ask the officer at the circulation counter for details.

Reserving

Reserving materials in circulation or new-arrival items can be made at the circulation counter.

Overnight loan

Reference books with "R" labels and textbooks with“オーバーナイト”labels can be borrowed only overnight. Overnight loan begins at an hour before closing and needs to be returned an hour after opening on the next day.

PHOTOCOPYING

Make photocopies by yourself with a coin-operated photocopier. Return the items when finished.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Students, faculty, staff, professor emeritus, alumnae of the University may request interlibrary loans for materials not in the library.

Bibliographic databases for finding journal articles you need. --Pubmed,Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Web of Science, etc.

Electronic journals and books

The Library provides access to many electronic materials. --ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Springer Link, ClinicalKey, Wiley Online Library, Harrison's Online, etc.

*Registration is required for alumnae to use the electronic resources (for a fee).
