Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

The 21st century is said to be the era of mental health care. The accelerating pace of change in modern society, including structural changes in society, worsening economic conditions, advanced technology, and the traditional family system, has resulted in a great deal of stress for the people who live in this society. Against this backdrop, people's needs for mental health care continue to increase. Psychiatric nursing was positioned as one of the important pillars of nursing education by the revision of the nursing education curriculum in 1997. Based on the recognition of the importance of mental health care in nursing, our department is enthusiastically engaged in research that responds to the needs of the times, focusing on rehabilitation nursing for the mentally challenged, from mental health issues in daily life situations.

Subjects
Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Theories

Based on an understanding of the structure and function of the human psyche, the Psychiatric Nursing course focuses on the life behavior and relationships of individuals affected by mental health conditions, and teaches the maintenance and promotion of mental health, prevention of mental health disorders, and nursing assistance for people once they have a mental disorder. Through these studies, students aim to acquire knowledge and skills in psychiatric nursing that can be widely applied to all aspects of nursing.
Lectures consist of Introduction to Mental Health Nursing, Mental Health Theory, History and Legal System Theory, Assistive Technology, Assistive Methodology, Nursing Assistance for Each Disability, Assistance to Families, and Activities for Persons with Disabilities.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Practicum

The purpose of this course is to develop the ability to practice nursing care for people with mental disorders.
1. To understand the mind of mentally challenged people from biological, psychological, and social perspectives
2. To understand the mentally disabled as people in their daily lives Practice life support for the mentally disabled through interpersonal relationships
3. To practice life support for the mentally disabled through interpersonal relationships.
4. To know about health, medical, and welfare assistance provided in psychiatric hospitals and in the community.
The above are the goals of the training in psychiatric nursing.

Liaison Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

Through lectures and exercises, students learn about the positioning, purpose, and functions of liaison psychiatric nursing as a specialized area of psychiatric nursing, mental health problems of subjects with physical illnesses and nursing assistance for them, mental health of nurses and its support, and techniques of nursing approaches.
