Community Health Nursing

Community nursing is the science of practice to improve the quality of life and support various levels of health, including health maintenance and promotion, disease prevention, early detection and treatment, rehabilitation, and terminal care, for individuals, families, and populations of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, living in the community. In recent years, the accelerating aging of the population, the increase in lifestyle-related diseases, and the need to respond to crisis management in times of disaster have made the importance of this science even more important.
In the field of community nursing, the scope of activities covers all places where people live, and the methods of development differ depending on the target group and the characteristics of the place. Students will learn how to develop basic nursing activities in administrative nursing, occupational health nursing, school health nursing, home health nursing, etc., how to provide effective support, how to collaborate with related health and welfare professionals, how to develop and organize groups, and how to build community care systems. Since the role of the nursing profession is not only to assist the sick in clinical practice but also to provide the necessary support for people to be able to live their own lives, the program aims to develop human resources who can develop appropriate nursing care from the perspective of people who live in the community.
In the area of community nursing, the program provides education on subjects to qualify for the national examination for public health nurses (up to 20 students may be selected). In addition, those who have obtained a public health nurse license can apply to obtain a second-class license for school nurse teacher (by taking some elective courses), a first-class sanitation supervisor, and a ship sanitation supervisor, enabling them to play an active role in various fields.
See "Curriculum Features" for details.
